The black garment bag doubles as a launder and press and dry cleaning bag. Use this bag for all items you want to receive back pressed and on hangers.
Once your bag arrives at our local dry-cleaning partner, a cleaning care associate will check the care label for each item. Most items are better suited for the launder and press process, instead of dry cleaning.
Items will only be dry cleaned if:
It is explicitly stated on the cleaning care label
The facility manager determines that the material is best suited for dry cleaning, or
We receive a cleaning note requesting that the item is dry cleaned.
Items that are considered best for our launder and press process will be washed with water and detergent, starched according to preference, and pressed after.
For "Dry clean only" items we use a solvent in place of water to bring stains to the surface and dissolve them.
As a standard, dress shirts are laundered and pressed unless the cleaning tag on the item says, “Dry clean only.” Most men's dress shirts can be pressed using a machine that pushes steam through the shirt at a fast rate. Because we're able to press these shirts quickly, they're priced at a lower rate than other items.
However, if the shirt is laundered, but cannot be placed on the pressing machine due to its material, button placement, sizing, or other reasons then it must be pressed by hand. Because of this, the cleaning of the shirt will be charged at the "dry clean shirt" rate.
Can Dry Clean Items be Starched?
Starch, as a additive, is typically only added to launder and press items.
When asking for an item to be starched, most people are just wanting to have a "crisper" or firmer press that doesn't quickly result in wrinkles after a little bit of wear. Other additives are used in the pressing process to achieve this, but those usually aren't starch in modern cleaning facilities. "Starch" is still the term used by many so we understand the confusion.
If you want a crisper press, we recommend asking for that specifically in a cleaning note sent to our Customer Support team. If you're wanting it particularly crisp with sharp creases, ask for a "military press" or something similar.
